Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, attended the demolition of Laindon Shopping Centre – the latest milestone towards delivering ‘Laindon Place’. The aim is to transform the centre into a thriving new high street for the local community.
The new plans will see a health centre, 86 houses, 138 flats and a shopping parade brought to the area. Stephen was joined local Councillors and the other two Basildon Borough MP’s, John Baron MP and Mark Francois MP at the event.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “The demolition of Laindon Shopping Centre will help regenerate the area with a brand-new high street, medical centre and affordable homes.
Swan nu Living, Basildon Council, Local Councillors and Stakeholders have the potential to make a great difference to the community and I look forward to seeing the progress in the future”.
