Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, is supporting Christian Aid Week 2022.
This year, Christian Aid Week is encouraging people to stand with women in Zimbabwe who are on the front line of the climate crisis.
In rural Zimbabwe, seven out of ten women rely on farming to earn a living and provide for their families. When the rains don’t come, women can’t grow enough food, and struggle to provide for their children.
As the climate crisis continues, vulnerable communities are only going to face more intense droughts, floods, and storms - and more women are at risk of losing their livelihoods.
Therefore, the work which Christian Aid is doing is vital in supporting these women tackling climate poverty.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “It was excellent to meet with Christian Aid in Parliament this week and see the vital work they are doing to help tackle climate poverty.
I encourage everyone to get involved in Christian Aid Week and Christian Aid events whenever they can”.
