Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, has joined the Health Secretary in praising Basildon Hospital for their rollout of the coronavirus vaccine.
On Monday the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, wrote to Stephen congratulating Basildon Hospital on being one of the highest performing coronavirus vaccination sites in the country.
This follows the Health Secretary’s recent visit to the intensive care unit at the hospital where he spoke to nurses and doctors about their own experiences during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 10.5 million vaccines have now been delivered across the UK and in assisting this national effort, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust have already administered 184,520 vaccines. This includes 173,338 first doses and 11,182 second doses.

Stephen Metcalfe said: “I was delighted to read that Basildon Hospital is one of the highest performing coronavirus vaccination sites in the country.
This is an excellent achievement, especially as we reach another national milestone of over 10 million people now having received the vaccine.
My biggest thanks and congratulations to everyone who has made this possible.”
