Stephen Metcalfe MP has welcomed the return of pupils to schools across South Basildon and East Thurrock.
Last week Stephen Metcalfe MP visited Ortu Corringham Primary School to congratulate the school on the successful return of pupils.
Pupils have been adapting to the new ways of learning from home due to the coronavirus outbreak. A range of COVID-secure measures have been put in place in schools to allow students to return and get learning again.
The chief medical officers have warned about the risks of being out of school — increasing inequalities, reducing life changes and exacerbating health issues. The balance of risk is firmly in favour of return.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “It was great to visit Ortu Corringham Primary School to see how the first day back at school was going. Great to hear that 99.8% of students were in attendance and to see learning again! Also, great to see new pre-school in full operation. Thanks to the Head, Lee Porter and all of the staff”.
