Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, has welcomed the opening of Pitsea’s new 25 metre pool at Eversley Leisure Centre and joined local councillors to cut the ribbon.
On 16 November, Stephen cut the ribbon to Pitsea’s new £6.3 million swimming pool with Basildon Councillors Craig Rimmer and Jeff Henry who have been crucial to securing the new facility.
At 25 metres, with 4 lanes, the pool has more than enough capacity to host school swimming lessons and hold short-course competitions. It is a 6.3-million-pound investment that will vastly improve the health and wellbeing of the local community, young and old alike.
There has recently been big investment in the Pitsea area with the ‘Safe and Sound Estates’ programme and the construction of a new Community Diagnostic Centre. In partnership with the NHS, the Community Diagnostic Centre will dramatically increase the availability of CT and MRI scans – it also comes alongside a new activity centre.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “Residents have long-asked for a new pool and it is fantastic that one has been delivered. It looks great.
The response in the community has been very positive and I look forward to seeing the residents of Pitsea benefitting from it.
A massive congratulations must go out to the Council. I will continue to work closely with them as we work to improve Pitsea.”
