Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, joined local residents to open Horndon-on-the-Hill’s Feast and Fayre 2023.
Horndon-on-the-Hill’s popular Feast and Fayre returned on Saturday 24 June. Stephen spoke at the opening ceremony about the importance of such local events and thanked the organisers for their hard work. Stephen was joined by Dave StPierre, a representative of Parkinson’s UK which is the Feast and Fayre’s chosen charity for 2023.
The event, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in modern times, can trace its routes to a 13th Century Royal Charter.
The theme of the 2023 Feast and Fayre was ‘Merrie England’ and the village saw ukulele bands, saxophone players, minstrels and Morris dancers perform across the weekend. The Horndon 10k Run also took place where local runners logged some extremely impressive times.
Stephen Metcalfe said: “A big congratulations to Horndon-on-the-Hill for the Feast and Fayre 2023. It was a fantastic success, raising money for a great charity and celebrating hundreds of years of local tradition.”
