Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, paid tribute to the departing Woodlands School Headteacher, Mr Simon Cox, on his last day at the school (5th April).
Mr Cox joined Woodlands School in 2014 after Ofsted inspectors branded it ‘inadequate’ and put it into special measures. During Mr Cox’s tenure, standards at the school have vastly improved and it is now rated as ‘good’, with its leadership rated ‘outstanding’.
He is now relocating to the Midlands to take up another challenging opportunity which has presented itself.
Mr Metcalfe said “There is no doubt that Simon’s commitment, dedication and drive has turned Woodlands School into the centre for excellence that it is. I wish him well for the future and thank him for what he has done for the children of Basildon.
I look forward to working with the new Headteacher to ensure that students continue to get the excellent education that they deserve”.
