Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, is alerting constituents that Royal Mail’s last recommended posting dates for Christmas have been revised due to ongoing industrial action by the Communication Workers Union.
This year, it will be especially important for people to post early for Christmas as the Royal Mail's last recommended posting dates have been brought forward. This means that people will have to send their letters and parcels 2-7 days earlier, depending on the delivery service they have paid for, if they are to arrive in time for Christmas Day.
For 2nd Class, 2nd Class Signed For, and Royal Mail 48 services, the last recommended posting date has changed from Monday 19 December to Monday 12 December.
For 1st Class, 1st Class Signed For, Royal Mail 24, and Tracked 48 services, the last recommended posting date has changed from Wednesday 21 December to Friday 16 December.
For the Royal Mail Tracked 24 service, the last recommended posting date has changed from Thursday 22 December to Monday 19 December.
For the Special Delivery Guaranteed service, the last recommended posting date has changed from Friday 23 December to Wednesday 21 December.
Given that Royal Mail has issued this advice, the wait could now be even longer. So, get posting!
