Stephen Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, joins his constituents and the Nation in reflecting on the loss of our beloved Queen and celebrating her public service.
Stephen Metcalfe said, “I have been deeply saddened by the passing of our wonderful Queen whose reign has spanned the entirety of my lifetime. Her Majesty’s sense of duty and fortitude of character is inspiring, and it is understandable why she has been referred to as the grandmother of our nation.
It has been humbling to see such large numbers of people queue to pay their respects and I am sure that many of us will have reflected on her importance to the nation and remembered her long service to the country whilst watching her State Funeral in Westminster on 19th September.
We may take solace that King Charles III, like his mother, is fully prepared to serve the British people.
